People have been doing tricks with smoke since the days of Sir Walter Raleigh. And why not? Everybody loves a good trick and smoke tricks have always been a reliable way to generate smiles, interest, and conversation at parties. These days with more and more people embracing vaping it only makes sense that they would also put those huge diaphanous clouds to work to curry favor with their peers. In this post, the team at the Smoking Buddha vape shop in Parker pool their knowledge to create a list of six vape tricks sure to impress your friends.

Impress Friends and Family with the Following Vape Tricks

The allure of vape/smoke tricks is actually pretty simple: people like to see and experience new and unexpected things. Even if that thing is somebody manipulating a cloud of vapor with their mouth. If you want to give people at the next party you attend something to talk about try a few of the following tricks.

1: The ghost hit

The ghost hit isn’t the kind of thing that’s going to win a TV talent show, but it’s still a lot of fun to pull this one out of your hat in front of unsuspecting friends. The techniques employed to make the ghost hit work are also used in several other tricks. So this is a good one to learn early on.

Here’s how you do it:

  • Draw a big cloud of vapor into your mouth, resisting the urge to inhale it.
  • Then open your mouth wide and allow the vapor cloud to drift out slowly and smoothly.
  • When there is a nice big cloud in front of your mouth raise your tongue to prevent any more from leaking out.
  • Then suddenly drop your tongue to the floor of your mouth while simultaneously inhaling vigorously. The smoke cloud will quickly disappear back into your mouth.

Word around the vape shop is that the trick got its name because some folks think the cloud drifting out of the mouth looks like a ghost. But ghost or not it’s a pretty cool trick that is certain to raise eyebrows.

2: The French inhale

This one used to be a big hit with cigarette smokers. So much so that it was unusual if you didn’t see someone in a bar in Parker performing it, audience or not. Well, you can’t smoke in bars and clubs anymore and the number of cigarette smokers is steadily dwindling. So it’s up to vapers to keep the French inhale alive.

Here’s how you do it:

  • Take a big hit off your vape and hold it in your mouth, just like you would with the ghost hit.
  • Again like the ghost, open your mouth and let the vapor drift out.
  • At this point, the French inhale diverges from the ghost hit…
  • As the vapor drifts out of your mouth inhale strongly through your nose.
  • This will pull the vapor into your nose.

Some people continue until all the vapor in their mouth has been sucked in through their nose. Others stop short of that. But in either case, the sight of a vapor conveyor belt moving smoothly from mouth to nose is certain to draw plenty of attention. And that’s what tricks are for after all.

3: Blowing circles

Blowing circles is a trick cigarette smokers have been practicing for centuries. The good news is you can now make this trick yours without having to take up smoking coffin nails. In fact, some claim the trick is actually a lot easier when vaping because you can produce much larger clouds to work with. Just as the name implies the trick involves exhaling in a way that creates “O”-shaped clouds.

Here’s how it’s done:

  • Inhale your vapor like you normally would.
  • Make an exaggerated “O” with your mouth.
  • Curl your tongue inside your mouth so that the escaping vapor will go around it.
  • Cough up small amounts of vapor. Each cough should produce a new circle/ring.

It’s important that you do this trick in a calm environment. If you try to do it outside while the wind is blowing it won’t work.

4: The tornado

None of us here at the Smoking Buddha smoke shop had heard of this trick until very recently. But it’s extremely cool and will definitely grab lots of attention if you can pull it off in front of a party crowd. The tornado requires the use of your hands and, ideally, a cardboard tube from a roll of paper towels. If you don’t have a tube it’s okay. You can still do the trick, it’s just a little harder.

Here’s how it’s done:

  • Set yourself up in front of a table that is clear of obstructions.
  • Take a long drag on your vape.
  • Blow the vapor slowly down through the cardboard tube and let it spread across the tabletop.
  • If you don’t have a tube, put your face right down at table level and slowly exhale.
  • Once you have about a square foot of vapor on the table cup your right hand slightly, place it just above the vapor, and then draw it straight up quickly.

A tornado-like cloud will instantly form, complete with circular rotation.

5: Triangles

The idea of creating triangles, or any shape with angular corners, using vapor seems like a non-starter. Which is what makes this trick all the more amazing for the people watching. This is another trick that will require the involvement of your hands so you’ll want to make sure you put your vape down after getting a nice pull on it.

Here’s how you create triangles:

  • Take a big hit off the vape and draw it into your lungs.
  • Put the vape down after you have your hit.
  • Now make an “O” with your mouth as if you are creating circles, because that’s what you’re doing.
  • Curl your tongue inside your mouth and cough up a small amount of vapor to create a circle.
  • Hold your right hand straight up and tap the circle gently on the side to flatten it out.
  • Now hold your left hand at a 45-degree angle to the circle and push down. This will flatten out a second side creating a triangle effect.

It’s actually easier to do than it sounds. Essentially if you can blow circles you can create triangles. A bit of practice is typically all that’s needed.

6: The bull ring

A real favorite around the vape shop, a more accurate name for this trick would be the bull nose ring so as not to confuse people into thinking they need to recreate an entire bull ring with matadors and picadors, etc. The goal is to create an effect that looks like one of those rings bulls wear in their nose and the effect is achieved by combining the creation of circles with the French inhale.

Here’s how you do the bull ring:

  • Draw a large amount of vapor into your mouth.
  • Make an O shape with your mouth and blow circles as per the instructions for the third trick listed above.
  • As soon as the circle leaves your mouth, close your mouth and inhale quickly through your nose.

You’ll create the look of a bull nose ring briefly before the vapor disappears into your nose. The hardest part of this trick is definitely mastering blowing circles. Once you have that down you’re golden.
